About The Skipper

I started chartering in 1977 from the Transporter Bridge in Middlesbrough. We have chartered various boats including; "The Gem", "The Fray" and "The Just About". We have also done wreck netting for several years.

I am a registered member of the Whitby Charter Skippers Association. We enter the fishing festivals every year which has a top prize of up to £5000.

We relocated our chartering to Whitby when we bought the "Charisma" in 2001. This is a 37ft long and 13ft wide Freeward 35, powered by 140 horse power Ford Mermaid 6 cylinder engine.

We carry a 20 man life-raft and full safety equipment. The Charisma is fitted with a toilet room, which is a great advantage for our women anglers! We are licensed and insured to carry up to 12 passengers - beginners welcome!

A normal days fishing usually starts from 7am and we are back in port by 5pm. However, if you are looking for long trips between 10-94 hour, my son owns "The Chieftain" - an 80ft Ex-Royal Navy ship. You can contact him by visiting his website at;
